  • Not sure if it would help. Sure, there has to be competition to keep fares in check, but why get the government involved with what airline can fly where and what fare to charge.

  • Just flew from FLL - PHL on Sat. and was told to dump my water bottle which was almost empty anyway but the TSA agent said to me that water is still considered a liquid in Florida. Hmm. imagine that. But my niece did have her carry on searched.

  • Sorry, but I don't agree with your statement PhxAZMom. The airlines didn't change everything about flying. When the airline industry was deregulated, the government and the flying public changed the way airlines were going to fly.

  • I travel only a couple times a year fying on a mode of transportation that was built to get passengers from A to B quickly and efficiently. 1, 2, 3, 4 hours - what's the limit? The airlines, I belive did a fairly good job at cancelling flights this year at PHL when we got hit with those blizzards.

  • What's next - paying for the use of the flight attendant, plastic seats, air circulation fee, arm rest fee, pulling up the carpeting. Before long we WILL be flying in an aluminum tube, literally, just a tube with plastic seats.

  • I know the discussion has died down but JohannaD you hit the nail on the head. All this discussion on fees is great. They suck. The not-so-friendly help also sucks. The delays suck. The delays and cancellations suck.

  • My final entry on this. Airplanes are suppose to fly full as are trains and buses. Fees are here to stay, although I do not agree with all of them.

  • I totally agree with ColeA. I've been saying this for a while now that John Q Public wanted cheap fares - and the airlines gave them cheap fares. We started this mess. They cannot go on forever with charging low fares and all the ammenities that use to come with air travel to make a profit.

  • The airlines just go away? Won't happen. A big part of our commerce. You think unemployment is high now. If all the airlines shut down, your looking at 20% - 25% unemployment. Hight speed rail travel? Won't happen either.

  • The US Airlines better not even think of charging a fee for using the rest room. I work at a hospital and I'll bring a urinal with me. And to charge a fee for a "Premium" seat in coach is also laughable. They're all the same width and pitch, aisle, middle or window.
